Island Camp is location on Olkokwa Island, in the centre of the chocolate-coloured,
132sq km Lake Baringo. One of only two freshwater lakes in the Great Rift Valley,
Baringo is home to some 400 species of birds including a number of rare varieties.
This is a five-star luxury tented camp with 25 double tents as well as a restaurant
and bar. The camp also has its own swimming pool. Guests have access to a wide
range of sports activities that include water-skiing and windsurfing as well as
fishing. After dark, visitors to the camp can watch hippos emerging from the water
to make there way to their nocturnal pastures. The lake itself boasts large numbers
of seemingly harmless crocodiles. Boat trips for guests are provided by local
Njemps fishermen.
